I didn't have opportunities to use vB5 but I think vB 4 is enough for a good community and surprising why vB team didn't support it anyone while more people is expecting improvements from this version.
If I am you, then I will use the default theme from vB5 and develop a new theme from it wihout using theme from other sources, this for any reasons. -
Note that deleting the themes that come with vB5 isn't the best idea...they will simply return next time you upgrade.
Disabling them is the better bet. Admins can still select them but ordinary users cannot.Leave a comment:

Most of the styles available for VB5 are paid styles. I use custom styles from two different developers and both are of high quality and reasonably priced.Leave a comment:

I browsed through the vb5/style forum of vbulletin.org. It's actually depressing. I didn't see any styles.
I also saw the stylevars page, been trying that since day one but it doesn't seem to do anything to my forum. The preview button and other buttons don't work either. I contacted support last night. Hopefully they can tell me what the problem is.Leave a comment:

There is a style section for vB5 on www.vbulletin.org
If you are making your own style, this stylevar guide may be useful:

I like the 5 version so far. It's much more than a forum, more like a whole website. I was a heavy poster on a couple of vb4 forums and their user control panel was nice. City-data.com forum uses 4 and has a live posting feed which moves every few seconds but with the features and modules on 5 all I need is a suitable theme that's not boring and can be easily used or uploaded. I'm thinking of purchasing this one, but first I want more feedback. Does something sound wrong or faulty with my style manager??

Where can I find a theme/style for version 5 ?
I know a few themes came with my version 5.1.7. I didn't want to use any of them so I deleted them. I also deleted the default parents (or template,I don't know). I couldn't find a way to modify any of them.
The "color style" in the module section that's accessible while logged into the forum isn't helpful because I couldn't get it to work.
I tried to modify the theme by changing "body_background" from style manager and that didn't seem to work. The "preview" button did nothing when I clicked it.
I uploaded a screenshot showing how my style manager looks. Right now I'm unable to modify anything from it. I need a theme pre-made, because I rather not spend hours trying to get something to look right, which seems not to be editable besides. If the ones I deleted were the only ones available then I need to know how to re-upload them.
Please help. I may also be interested to purchase one. I don't like playing around with themes, I just need a good one to keep and leave alone.Tags: None👍 1

by jdjI've just installed vBulletin 5 for the first time by upgrading my test site from vB4. Can't see any problems as yet.
Is there a style generator in vB5? Or is it just a case of trawling...-

by gfcOk, there are some very negative answers about vb5. But.. I really like the style! Maybe I'm the only one, but it's much cleaner than this 1990ies Style of vb5. For me it's absolutely the right direction...

Having generated my new styles I don't want the old vB5 style to show. If I go to style manager and click off...-
