  • Finally upgraded to vB3 Gamma, but now is worthless with a lot of database error msgs

    I was having problems upgrading to vB3 (posted here: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89184) but found a way to install it by manually changing all the lines of code like this one (and other required files that had that same include type):
    require_once('./includes/config.php');
    to the full file path
    require_once("/full/file/path/vB3/includes/config.php");
    on the files: upgrade1.php and upgradecore.php

    and it worked... the upgrade finished without errors... but as soon as I tried to login to the Admin CP I started getting errors, this also happened on the board. Eventually, I noticed I was getting errors on every thing I did that required a change something on the database... I will include in this post... all the errors I got, until I gave up. They are a lot of errors, I hope them can help to figure out my problem. I changed my actual site url from the errors to mydomain.com and also changed my IP on the error log I will copy here.

    Here are all the errors I got:

    hi there ...

    can you provide your full server specs particular your php and mysql versions... i saw in a previous thread you're using PHP 4.2.3 ? try

    1. upgrade to PHP 4.3.4
    2. grab a back up of your database you would of made prior to upgrade your forum
    3. create new empty database and restore this backup into
    4. go to members area and redownload the entire vB 3 Gamma zip file
    5. create new directory on your server i.e. /test2 where you will unzip vB 3 Gamma php files and all to /test2 so you would have forum at yourdomain.com/test2
    6. edit /test2/include/config.php and point database to the one created in step 3
    7. now try the upgrade again

      Hi eva...
      I have Apache/2.0.43 (Unix) PHP/4.2.3 / MySQL 3.23.52 running on RedHat Linux 8.0
      I did pretty much everything you said there... except upgrade to the latest PHP version... so that tells me that could have to do something with that.

      In the meantime, I tried editing all the upgrade#.php files to reflect the full-file-path to the required files and tried the upgrade again. And this time all the upgrade scripts got loaded fine and the installation went smoothly... I have my test board working and haven't got any errors yet... anyhow, before doing it on my actual copy of the most recent backup, I'll try it on a few days to see if it works fine without any more errors.
