I started step 6 about, I dunno, 7am this morning. I've been waiting patiently, and it's now almost 2:40. I've got cable, so is this downloading from the server or whats going on? How long is this supposed to take?
Does step 6 end?

I wonder if jelsoft actually tested the upgrade process on a really BIG database, I'm in hour 24 of running upgrade scripts, and I dropped the contents of my 2.5gb attachment db before starting!Kyle Christensen

I'm going on the bet that I can import my database (2.2.8) AFTER I install 3.0.0 Beta. Else the update is completely worthless if I have to leave IE running (without crashing even on XP) for a matter of DAYS! Windows runs fine for days, weeks, I've even heard monthes without a reboot or crash, but IE, I dunno, I explore to much
Though I suppose since I have every other major browser installed on my computer I can use them.
Reguardless, this is absolutely unacceptable! People practically LIVE at my forums and I've only got just under 600 members, I've seens some massive forums out there . . .John Bilicki III

Yes we ran it on large installations, but nothing with 2.5gb of attachments. That is an insane amount of attachments. The attachment table needs schema changed and it is going to take a long time to get through 2.5gb of data.Comment

freddie: yeah, i forsaw that coming, so I decided to drop the contents of the attachment table on my test db before running the upgrade. I'm not sure exactly what the script was altering on that table (i havn't looked) but it still tried to iterate through all 37,000 attachments (that weren't there), so in the end I'm not sure it was any faster having dropped the attachments (just less harsh on my disk)
When I go to upgrade for real, I'm not going to have the liberty of doing that though
