It's that .ph3 --> .php thread again

I've been putting this off for a while now, but it was time, so I decided to upgrade from 2.0.3 to 2.2.1 and change over from .php3 to .php all in one go. Downloaded all the php files, ran the upgrade scripts, and then ........ nothing but blank white pages. Was I supposed to see something when runnng the upgrade scripts (13 and 14) ? Admin-cp was still there through the old bookmark, but the rest of the board could not be brought up, just a blank screen.

Can someone take a guess please at where I lost my way, or if I should have upgraded first and only then changed over to .php

Thanks Kaizen, I've read that post too. I did try it that way too, but got the same blank page when I ran that step2 in upgrade12.php

Question: are you saying that even though I'm trying to upgrade from 2.0.3 to 2.2.1 that I only have to run that step2 in upgrade12.php and that takes care of both the changeover to php and the upgrade of the vB version?

I am not confident in giving you a correct answer.

Wait for tubedogg to reply to this thread as he wrote the other thread.

You can upgrade and switch in one fell swoop.

1) Close your board.

2) Upload all of the .php files, except install.php. You do not need to upload the images. Make sure you do, however, upload the new vbulletin.style file.

3) Run upgrade13.php, then run upgrade14.php.

4) Delete all of the upgradex.php files our of the /admin directory on your server, where X is 10, 11, 12, 13, 14.

5) Go to the Admin CP. Run a search+replace operation on your templates, searching for
.php3
and replacing with
.php
(note the . in front of them!)

6) Delete the .php3 files off your server.

7) Reopen your board.

You should now have a fully functioning v2.2.1 .php vBulletin.

I must have messed up on one of the steps, because that is exactly what I did last night, but it didn't work, just got blank page. I will try it again once I recover from the emotional trauma caused by last night's ordeal.

Tried a couple of times again and it absolutely refuses to run upgrade13.php
All we get is a blank page. Tried running upgrade, then doing search/replace - no go. Then tried search/replace first, followed by upgrade13.php, again no go. Funny thing too, when running the search/replace, it only found 2 instances (one in header and one on footer I think).

Kevin, do you have any ideas why the upgrade.13php (or 14 for that matter) may refuse to "engage"?

Search/replace only searches custom templates.

You just get a blank page for upgrade13.php? Are you sure your host supports using .php files?

My host runs a php vB and there are several other vB'ers there.
"PHP 4.0.6 w/Zend Optimizer "
As far as I can tell, I am the only "silly" one to have installed a php3 vB.

Any ideas?

BTW, we ended up upgrading and that went fine, so now it's a 2.2.1

I figure I'm safe running the php3 board for at least 3 years, after that it's down to a clean new install of a php4. We have time.

I am in the same boat... tried upgrading and switching to .php and I got blank pages all around.

Any new ideas?
