vb 2.3.2 to vb3 upgrade mysql error 1146

I don't get to any step at all... If I go to /install/upgrade.php, I get the generic database error message and an email that reads:

    Database error in vBulletin :
    Invalid SQL:
    SELECT title, data FROM datastore
WHERE title IN ('options', 'cron', 'forumcache', 'usergroupcache', 'stylecache')
mysql error: Table 'beta.datastore' doesn't exist
    mysql error number: 1146
Date: Saturday 27th of March 2004 05:12:16 PM
    Script:
    http://***/install/upgrade.php
    Referer:
    IP Address: ***
I did a search in this forum and found at least a dozen similar posts, but no replies.

    Try the fixoptions.php script:

This may be redundant by the time I wake up tomorrow, since it may possibly be the host doing some upgrading. But figure I should post this here incase it isn't, and see if any of you can give information. The board is currently showing the following: Upgraded to vB3 Gamma the other day, and everything was working fine

      fixoptions.php reports the same error:

      SELECT title, data FROM datastore
WHERE title IN ('options', 'cron', 'forumcache', 'usergroupcache', 'stylecache')

Hmmm...running that script should have fixed this. I realy don't know then.

Heh... then what's my next step? Support request?

(FYI, I don't have a "datastore" table... dunno if I'm supposed to.)

I'm looking around but all I can find is that the fixoptions.php script should have fixed this. Exactly at what step is this occuring? The datastore table is actually created in the next upgrade script (upgrade1) and you shouldn't be getting this error on upgrade.php.

Is this a clean 2.3.2 database with no hacks? Just out of curiousity, did you run the database conflicts script prior to attempting the upgrade?

Purpose: The attached script is to be used to find any conflicting database tables and columns on your vBulletin 2 installations. Please note that this script will not alter your database in anyway, it will simply identify any problems that may exist. You will need to rectify this before you can attempt the vBulletin 3

Tried running the check, but, uhh... got the same error.

It's got a few hacks, but none that effect the db... If the datastore isn't created in upgrade.php, why in the world would it be looking for it there?

It doesn't make any sense to me. I'll see if I can get one of the Devs to take a look.

Just got it going, Steve! Turns out I had file permissions set wrong in such a way that mysqld couldn't make changes to my beta database.

Now to see how long it takes 200,000 threads and 100,000 members to convert...

Just out of curiousity which files did you have permissions wrong for?

The actual database files -- /var/lib/mysql/beta/* -- I had to chown mysql *

But, I'd be willing to bet that for anyone else this will be a generic error meaning that it couldn't make changes to the database, possibly due to MySQL permissions (as opposed to file permissions). Hope that helps and thanks for your assistance!

yup, permissions prob for me too. think it's time for some error checking on the upgrade script.

I am getting this same issue as well I can't even get the upgrade.php file to do anything except mail my admin account an e-mail with the errors listed on this page. I don't know if it's a db permissions problem or not. Is there a command that will list who it's assigned to for each table and should mysql be the proper name?

I have cpanel and shell access on my box if that makes it easier.

                          Thanks,
                          Brandon

has anyone worked out what file's permissions we are to change and how to do so?

                              regards
