Step 28 Hangs (One&One)

Has anybody, who uses one&one as their host, been able to install vb3 and get past step 28. When i try to install vb3 it hangs at step 28. This appears to be a common problem for people that use one&one as their web host.

I'm stuck at the moment as i cant re-run the upgrade process again due to the following error message:

We have detected that you have already tried to run the upgrade script. You will not be able to proceed unless you revert to a vB 2.2.x/2.3.x database.

I've tried to see if i can find any instructions on how to revert to a 2.2.x/2.3.x database but a few people have mentioned that it involves deleting your old tables which appears to involve losing your old threads.

first, is this a fresh install or upgrade (if upgrade from which vB 2.3.x version) ? i'm assuming it's an upgrade since you're on step 28 ?

can you post your phpinfo.php url as well

Simple solution, provided you followed the upgrade readme (backup), is to remove the new forum files and clean the database of vB tables, then re-store from your SQL backup (again, assuming you did this before the upgrade) and re-upload your old (Vb2) backup files.

It's easiest to do this by using a combo of PhpMyAdmin (database browser) and SSH (Putty is a good client) access. Ultimately I'm in the same boat as you, with the 'Language' import part stalling and am also on oneandone.

I cheated to get around it, but have yet to discover if the missing phrases in the CP will effect the public aspect of the forum. I can live without the help topics (clicking '?' in ACP) and admin page transfer messages, but it's worrying when anything isn't where it should be.

Many thanks for your replies. I'm doing an upgrade, not sure what my prevoius version was, didnt take too much notice to tell you the truth. It was definately later that 2.2.9 (may have been 2.3.2)

I had the same problem. The language table keeps going blank. But it appears that when I used an old copy of rc2 it worked. as to WHY I don't really know.

Something in the upgrade1.php file for step 28 has changed since the rc2 version and it causes this. I don't know what but this fixed it for me and my board is running perfect now on my test site (wanted to test before I upgrade).

Thanks for your help DanGarion, hopefully somebody might come up with a hack to allow a straight forward upgrade for any users who use one&one as their host. (fingers crossed)
