    Admin CP -> Styles -> Modify -> [fonts/colors/etc]

    Page Background Color = #999999" background="images/background.gif

    pay close attention to the placement of the quotation marks.

      That did it thanks. One thing though, when I did that, it came up with an invalid field value error, but it still worked, any ideas why?

        It's under Head Insert or Header, i've tried both. But no sign of any the 'Background colour' which you mentioned.

        Hope you can clear my above doubt.
