    sendmail help

sorry if this seems like an old topic but i still can't get my vBulletin to send mail.

my phpinfo from my new hosting company is:

    sendmail_from [email protected]
    sendmail_path no value

my old hosting company had this (worked fine)

    sendmail_from no value no value
    sendmail_path /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i

but they cannot change it for me and gave me this reply.

A: The sendmail path is updated in your script, not on our server. You have a windows account, so there really is no such thing as sendmail. The path to ActiveState sendmail is C:\Perl\site\lib\Mail\Sendmail.pm.

i switched from my last hosting company because they lacked .asp support which my new webhost has, but i can't get sendmail to work on the new host

    please help.

vBulletin uses PHP for all it's mail functions. So if PHP is configured with an email server, then there should be no problem.

Frankly I've never heard of a host refusing to do this. It's a standard component of every PHP installation I've ever seen. I hate to say it, but it doesn't sound like your web host knows how to set up a server. I suggest asking them again and let's hope for the best. Good luck!

      thanks for the reply
i've emailed them once again and hopefully we can work this out. I've been down almost 2 weeks without a board

this is what the phpinfo on the new host says

      sendmail_from [email protected]
      sendmail_path no value no value
      short_open_tag On
      SMTP localhost

In Windows, you shouldn't be worried about the sendmail path. PHP should be configured to use an SMTP server. What does the PHP.INI say about SMTP?

            ; For Win32 only.
            SMTP = localhost

however i pay for someone to host and not a co locate server. no control over IIS.
