I had supposed that videos would automatically embed in forum posts, and I would be able to rebuild the front page by altering the color scheme, and adding photographs etc, and that all was included in the program and cost package.
I wish to activate the counter on the page that has the thread, I'll call it the "story page," which should say who is online.
Z: I'm still not sure what you mean about the counter on the who's online page.
MT: Where it says this... Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 11 (1 members and 10 guests).
Z: You should be able to follow these directions to make a youtube video code work in your forums: vBulletin Community Forum - View Single Post - How to safely allow embedded YouTube videos?
MT: The directions do not work, how about you logging onto The Dockers Union Forum - Powered by vBulletin, and demonstrating the technique with the Elvis clip below.

It sounds like you've just misred instructions, and ignored others. You can't blame others for that.Comment

MT says: You got any feedback re the telephone support Dilly??

Dilly says: If you thought these things came with the program, you were incorrect, not vBulletin's fault.

Dilly: This is about as cryptic as it gets.Last edited by MartinT; Sat 2 May '09, 12:32am.Comment

I do not believe it is cryptic at all, scroll down to the bottom of this page, you will see a similar message which is what I am talking about ...how does one get it operational please.Comment

If so it is a per forum/thread option which can be enabled through the ACP.
You can find it within the Vbulletin Options-Showthread part. Its called: Show Users Browsing Threads and has a couple of options.
As for the youtube thing. Ppl told you that it is enabled through an external plugin which can be acquired at vBulletin.org. They also provide support for the plugin (or at least the author of the plugin usually does).
You cant hold Jelsoft responsable for not working plugins because they say they dont support external code.Comment

Thank you CarpHunter, that worked a treat.
Admin CP > vBulletin Options > Thread Display Options (show thread) V Show Users browsing Threads... Change this to "Yes."
CarpHunter: As for the youtube thing. Ppl told you that it is enabled through an external plugin which can be acquired at vBulletin.org.
Without leaving instructions re how I should install it, while a poster at another vB forum posted a link.. http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=189267, similarly without detailing how it is installed.

We do not provide support for third-party modifications. You need to ask for help with that at vbulletin.org.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

Installation/Upgrade- Upload the contents of the forums folder into your forums directory and import the product-ame.xml file into your product manager (if upgrading, choose 'yes' to overwrite previous installation).
- After installation, make sure that the system is on (admincp->AME CP->Settings)
- Then you may want to try to rebuild old URLs via the tools option.

Cellarius: ...ask in an appropriate forum.
Cellarius: There are installation instructions right there in the mod description.
Another thing, I paid sixty bucks so I could ring and someone would explain stuff over the phone...
MT: I went ahead and purchased a lease on April 18 2009 @ US $150.00 and US $60.00 for four weeks telephone support, I only got the number 29 April and my four weeks runs out 16 May.
When I have made the international call to Canada, there has only been recorded info, and no one has since responded to my recorded request that they ring me.Last edited by MartinT; Sat 2 May '09, 11:43am.Comment

I read your support ticket. You kept talking about 'Story Pages' and 'counters' which was not clear at all.
I wish to activate the counter on the page that has the thread, I'll call it the "story page," which should say who is online.
The log on situ at the members area is not working at all, the "embed YouTube Videos into posts," issue is still outstanding... like how is it done??Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

Since MartinT has already bought vB (this is Pre-sales forum, Martin!) and has been told where to ask for further support, why not close this thread? I really don't understand why Martin is unwilling to ask his questions where they are on topic. What is so difficult to ask "How to install this mod" in the thread of the mod over at vb.org? There are quite many helpful people, but ranting will get you nowhere. Why is it so hard to understand that Jelsoft does not provide support for software addons that they did not develop and that they have no control over?
Although I must admit that the claim that several "experts" and "good computer men" were unable to install vB because there were "conflicting instructions and ambigious demands" made me laugh.Comment
