okay so can someone please tell me the best ways to promote my forum

A few things you can do;

AdWords ($$)
Posting links in forums (which allow it)
Add links to your profile
Post to similar forums (with above 2)

Sadly that seems the only way, but also the REALLY slowest, ad words doesnt work as well as it sais it does.

If you want to know who visits your sites and sort of what region look at your HTTP Refferer information, so when you post your links on sites (Where allowed) then the HTTP Referrer information will tell you which ones are getting the "Customers" and which arnt.

I was paying close to $50 a month with adwords and my traffic barely increased at all. I have since but that on hold.

Adwords doesn't work.
