Moving the forum to a new URL

    All,

We may need to move a forum from www.formula16.org to www.formula16.info (for example); from this thread, it looks fairly simple.

    Is the process

    1, Close the board
2, change the URL in the members area
3, Move all the source from www.formula16.org/forum to www.formula16.info/forum
4, Log back in and re-open thew board?

    Cheers

    Simon

    Almost 100% correct.

    - Close the board.
    - Make a full backup of your files and database
    - Change the URL in the members' area on vBulletin.com
    - Change the URL in the admincp > vb options > site url details
    - Move the files, or update the domain,
    - Don't forget to move the database too,
    - Update config.php to point to the new database details, if any.
    - Log in again.
    - Go through the forum and test basic functionality to find issues
    - Perhaps update threads who have hard linked to other threads using the full url.
    - Once happy, open the board again.

How exactly would I do that? Is there a tool available which would help me updating the links in the posts?

        Thanks

Just do a search using your old domain name as the search criteria. Any post that contains the old domain in any form should show up. Then just update the links in those posts to reflect your new domain.

Thanks for your feedback. Is there any tool available which would do exactly that (manually editing 1000s of post could become quite cumbersome)?
