    Switching to Vbull.. advice

Hey There, I am pretty new here, ive been lurking for a while. I've decided to convert to vbulletin, I currently use phpbb but it has been giving me problems and im sick of installing add-ons. Also, i am about to buy vbulletin but i need some advice. I am in the buying section and it is giving me some options.

    Branding Free Option

    Professional Installation

    vBulletin Project Tools

    vBulletin Blog

which ones would you reccommend? I am thinking of getting vbulletin blog along with vbulletin, but i have questions

    1. What is project tools and should i get it?
    2. is it easy to install on my own? or should i pay someone to do it for me?
    3. branding fees, is it a big deal if i keep it there? or should i pay to remove it
    4. what is faster to pay with visa or paypal?
    5. Can i get vblog later if i decide not to get it today?

    Any advice?

Personally I prefer with branding, since im proud to be using vBulletin, Professional installation is only really needed if you dont think you can install it yourself, as for Project tools and Blog, those are really somthing you need to asses whether you need them or not.

Yes vBulletin is better than phpBB. But beware - it's a real nightmare converting. I'm speaking the truth as I've just converted from phpBB3 RC8 and I'm still having problems.

What do you mean you are having problems? Does converting mess up code within vbulletin?

I've got a thread in the Impex forum called "Converting" - take a look there.

Well I set a user to admin and not all the ACP options are showing.

                Regards Jason

Jason, the best place to be when you've got any problems is right here. Everyone is so helpful, and will soon get you sorted out. Believe me I know and I'm a total technical idiot. The people here really helped me out.

You only need Project Tools if your forum deals with solving problems, or if you're super serious about bugs and want to spend $50 to have them reported.

It's very easy. If you decide to pay - you'll feel foolish after paying $125 once you understand how simplistic the install is.

vBulletin forums usually have branding on them - even big ones. Removing it would be stupid, in my opinion. Even if your making lots of cash off advertisements, it's stupid to remove one line of wording for $125, unless you need it for a specific reason.

                      They'll both be fast.

you need to download and upload "Impex".

start from HERE and follow the instructions.

                          Regards Jason

                            Don't post false information please.

It is very easy to convert from phpBB. Your inability to follow instructions was more the issue in your case.

A personal experience isn't false information.
