CMS/portal system for website? Help me out!

Been out of the loop on the latest freeware CMS/portal systems. I'm developing another website/message board that will have a substantial amount of content. I already have VB for my message board, but I still need a highly customizable software package for the main site.

In the past I've used PHP-Nuke, very heavily modified, but the thing got hacked over and over. I also looked into Mambo but never went far with it. Anyone have any links/suggestions/site examples? It has to look professional as a large audience will be viewing it.

    Thanks!

    MKPortal.it

That's a pretty good one. Easy to setup and it can automatically integrate with your forum's colours.

vB Drupal is good. I use it.

I will use this thread as future reference, because I'm looking into a nice CMS for my VB when I do get one.

Question to those who suggested sites: Does this [program] work for multiple sites setup?

Most people here use vB Advance, which is more of a portal than CMS.

I've looked into VBA, but it seems like it's simply a re-compilation of forum data? I'm looking for something that can house its own articles (even if the articles are written in some sort of thread in a forum). I've used PHP-Nuke in the past for this, which is also a portal system.

Anyone have examples of solid VBA sites that are more than just a few boxes with links to threads/polls/whatever in the message board?

I am enjoying Joomla! and others have very good things to say about Drupal. You can try both of these as well as other open source CMS' at OpenSourceCMS.

                    Hope that helps...

I've been looking for years for a system in which I could have some informative magazine like front thingy for my forum. In the end decided to code my own.

I used Mambo/Joomla!. Not very good. And their bridges are very unstable.
