Urgent Help - Need to know how to do 3 things

1. I need to know how to set someone as a moderator who is registered
2. I need to know how to ban someone or remove
3. I need to know how to ban by ip

this is urgent as my forum is going chaotic at the moment with some nasty people posting..

How do I stop anymore posts on a thread but without removing the thread?

Ban user is easy..
Go to ACP...click on users.
select Ban user
Type in user name..
click ban user at the bottom of the page

Ok i found the ban part thanks.. does that prevent them from signing back up under another user name? I was hoping to ban ips

Thread tools in a Thread??? i dont see that.. it doesnt give me that option
