You may not ban someone who is not a normal registered user?

I don't understand. I have some supermods, whom I thought had banning permissions, but I've just been informed that they get the message above when they try to ban someone from the mod control panel. What's up with that? I thought a supermod could ban people?

They can only ban those in the regular user group, not those in any other group.

Ah, I see. Yep, the user was not in a default group. That explains it.
