    Use a background image in the body:

    Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Main CSS (in the menu) -> Body

    Use this code in the Background field:

    Code:
    [color=red]#869BBF[/color] url([color=red]path/to/image.gif[/color]) repeat

        Nope, remove the code jake gave you from the EXtra css atributes box, and put it into the background box.

              Use no-repeat

                  ok im following everything i think but its not showing up.

                  in the background box of the body i typed in exactly what is above.

                  #869BBF url(http://www.mysite.net/images/misc/background.GIF) repeat

                  exactly like that. but its not showing up. and i tried it several different ways, without url, without ( ). what am i doing wrong.

                    Make sure there is an image at that URL. I assume you edited the URL for posting.

                        Left and Right Background Images?

                        This method works beautifully for me; is it possible to have both a left-hand and right-hand image?

                        I tried a series of sloppy amateurish hacks using Main CSS, header and footer templates, and Additional CSS and they each failed.

                          That gets messy. I recommend something like this.

                            In my case, my right-hand image is a mirror reversal of my left-hand image. Is that feasible?

                              Yes. You can still put both on the same backdrop.
