my vbulletin wants to download php pages

Help! for no reason at all my forum has suddenly started to give the option of downloading the php files instead of opening them in the browser window, tried FF and IE and someone who isnt a member of the site has the same problem

Dont think this is a direct VB problem but any ideas would be good

Its just my index.php files that are afected.

I have this problem with www.vbulletin.com as well as my own site.
It happens once in a while.
I find if I restart apache, it fixes the problem. Anyone know a better fix?

Not that I am doubting you, but an apache restart always seems to fix the problem. Doesn't that mean its not a firefox issue?

Interesting...do you think the folks at Firefox are aware of this?

Yesterday i was have this problem and i fix it today..
the reason for this problem because i upgrade my perl version!

anyway.. to fix this problem you must update apache
i do that from root cpanel.

from the cpanel Software menu click Apache update
                then select the options

                -Expires Module
-Raise FD_SETSIZE to 16384 (System Wide)
-Prevent Users from reading other webroots
                -Frontpage Module
                -Raise HARD_SERVER_LIMIT
                -Php Module (Version x.x.x)
                -FTP
                -GD (Version 2.0.15)
-Skip Apache Build if up to date

and keep every selected box then click Start Build
it will take about 20 mins to finish the update

                peace!

updating apache it will fix many problems if you upgrade your server software

try to update it and you will see ..

                    ----

                    Apache 1.3.34
                    Perl 5.8.7
                    PHP 4.4.2
                    MySQL 4.0.26
                    VB 3.5.4

                    and everythings work fine

The problem occurs in IE too...although it appears as a "Page Cannot Be found" error.

ZeryabPhone, I am using the same version of Apache as you, but I am on PHP 4.4.0.
                      Could that be the issue?

I have this problem with IE, but FireFox works fine. IE was applied all WindowsUpdate updates. PHP is 4.3.9, Apache v1.3.28, MySQL 4.1.9-standard-log.

I seem to me, that this error began to appear, when I upgraded VB to 3.5.4. Can anyone confirm this?

FWIW, I had this problem in vB 3.0.8 too.

I've upgraded to PHP 4.4.2 and still have this problem every so often..any ideas?

This is a browser or PC issue.

If you are getting randomly downloaded files, it means that possibly all of your files were not uploaded properly, or your webserver is not properly functioning or is not setup to parse php files.
