If your database in on a separate server you will have to make sure that the database on that server can accepted remote connections 99.99% won't due to security.

If you can get a copy of the database and restore it on the same database server that vBulletin is running on.

If you edit a post I'm not sure what was there or what isn't.

To delete the session go to ..../impex/help.php

These links will allow you to restart an import, remove a session or remove the importid's to allow consecutive imports.
          Using includes/config.php for target config.

          Cancel

To cancel and return to the import, click here.

          Delete Session

To delete the import session and continue with the import, click here.

Delete Session and all imported data

To delete the import session and all imported data for a clean retry, click here.

          Remove importids

To delete the importids in the database, click here, also removes the session. This will allow you to do consecutive imports

and it's just stuck in a loop.

Download impex again and upload and over write all the files and try again, this has been resolved.

ahh okay I did that it seemed like the import worked, it told me everything imported and nothing failed, it has imported the users but not the forums, any clue why?

Oh and thanks for the fast responces.

a little more detail. This is the original error message when running step 1 of IMPEX

                      Altering tables

ImpEx will now Alter the tables in the vB database to include import id numbers. This is needed during the import process for maintaining refrences between the tables during an import. If you have large tables (i.e. lots of posts) this can take some time. They will also be left after the import if you need to link back to the origional vB userid.

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.

This ia a brand new 3.5 install. Im importing from a local phpBB2 database.

Also of note I am not receiving any technical staff emails. I have the proper email address in the config.php, and chnaged it to another known working email as well, still nothing.

We need to see the real error message. Right-click on the error page and go to View/Source. Then copy-n-paste the error message here.

Your ImpExConfig.php info is wrong. Make sure the sourceexists is 'true' and you are using the correct source db.
