vBulletin with Mambo: Yes or No?

I am interested in vBulletin to replace my existing phpbb forums and I am currently launching a new site using Mambo 4.5.1 and I want to know before hand if the two are compatible. I don't have hours to tweek a hundred different scripts to get the forums to work. I want simple integration with zero headaches and no hair pulling instances. If they can't be integrated and play well with each other I need to know so I don't waste my time. As you can tell I am skeptical about CMS and Forum software integration because I have been burnt big time in the past.

Just be honest and say yes or no. No need to say download this script for that module etc etc. It either works or it doesn't and that's all I need to know.

Mambo is a third-party script. We do not provide any tools or support for integrating it with vBullletin. You could try asking at the Mambo site if they have instreucctions on doing this.

Ok no problem. I decided to hold off on mambo after stumbling over the vBulletin CMS Portal add-on. Thanks for feedback.

BTW I went ahead and bought vBulleting anyway hehe.

Well www.Bansheehq.com uses it. I dont think it would be to hard couldnt you just link your forum to it and put navigational links at the top? Theres a demo at www.mamboservers.com

Hi all,

I`m working currently on a bridge for vBulletin 3.0.7 and Mambo 4.5.2.3:

As you see the vBulletin is nearly completly integrated in Mambo, sharing the login ( you can login from or mambo also logout from both works )

You can use the vBridge in wrapped ( inside Mambo ) or unwrapped mode ( as standalone ).
Currently i use the Mambo registration, which also add a user to vbulletin, in further developing it will be optional to use mambo or vbulletin to register.

Adding, editing or deleting a User from the Mambo backend will have also effect for the vBulletin user, in further developing this will be also able from the vBulletin AdminCP.

The vBridge is at the moment in Betastatus but no much bugs are left, and the best of all, it is free.

For patching the vBulletin files i use a Patchhandler which i have adapted from SMF, so hacks can be added via XML file with the needed search and replace pattern, no need to do this manually.

It looks great! And it was just what I was looking for.

I noticed that loading time of the forums was pretty slow though. Is there anyway that it can be sped up a bit? Is it slow because it's in a wrapper?

You will be very happy with the vBridge component that's been recently released. You won't be "burnt" because it's a free component and it obviously works because you can see boards that are using it in the thread above.

I have tested it and it works. ...so far without a flaw, but only in a test environment.

As soon as 3.5 is released properly, I will use vBridge to create the new incarnation of my board.
