Control Panel blank white screen after install

I successfully installed vbulletin, or at least I received the "successful install" message after completing installation process. I deleted the install.php file as instructed. When I click the "here" link to the control panel all I see is a blank white screen. The URL is correct.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but there was no file named config.php in the download. There was a file config.php.new, which I assumed was the proper config file, so I renamed it to config.php.

Here is the source for the index.php file as displayed in my browser. As you can see, there is nothing there.

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
    <BODY></BODY></HTML>

I don't know if this is anything to do with it, but the value I added during installation for the BB URL was http://www.merrypranksters.com/vbulletin. Should this have had more info, such as https://www.merrypranksters.com/vbul...min/index.php? Also, the actual directory structure is https://www.merrypranksters.com/www/...min/index.php, but I never add the "www". But I don't see why these directory issues would have affected the creation of the index.php3 since the install process obviously found the files ok or it would have returned errors.

I also sent this to tech support. Any suggestions from the community?

Reupload admin/index.php, making sure you upload in ASCII format.

      Problem solved

Thanks a million. That worked! I'm mystified by why installation overwrote the index.php file with an empty file. Was it supposed to be making a change to index.php?

No, the installation would not edit index.php, or any php file. Glad it worked!
