    Need to restore my database

Ok, I made a big mistake and accidentally deleted my forum from my server!

I had to reinsall vBulletin completely and overwrite the database. I have a backup (one created using phpmyadmin and one using the vbulletin backup in control panel).

How do I restore this sql file and will this get my forum back to its pre-backup state?

My webhost doesn't allow telnet access, and I can only have one mysql database.

    I know nothing about SQL

All you can do is upload the file to the webserver and tell your server admins to do the rest.

You can import an sql file via phpmyadmin, so that is an option open to you.

        Thanks for the replies.

phpmyadmin will let you restore your database, but you have to do it in chunks so that it doesn't time-out (after 12secs I think).

I asked my web hosts to do it using the Telnet command and it worked perfectly (phew!!)

Must remember to backup the database daily - I've lost quite a few posts and template mods that I had made.

At least it's back working now
