    Upload Image Problems

    When I try to upload images I get:

    The uploaded file is not a valid GIF or JPG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

    I have tried a fix that somone posted but to no avail. Also I uploaded an avatar manually to the server through ftp and that worked but I had that avatar selected and wanted to see if I could upload an avatar off my pc. I click the bullet next to yes, then browse when I selected my avatar off my pc the buller went from yes back up to the bullet next to the avatar from the server. So really that's two problems in one... any suggestions?

    Can you create a file that looks like this:
    <?php
    phpinfo();
    ?>
    and save it as phpinfo.php and put it on your server somewhere and post the URL please?

        I think in your case the problem is Safe Mode is on.
        Go into your Admin CP > vBulletin Options > Upload Options and set the following:
        Upload in Safe Mode? Yes
        Safe Mode Temp Directory: images/tmp
        Then create a directory named
        tmp
        in your forum/images directory and CHMOD it 777.

        Does it work now?

          LuBi's facing a double restriction from plesk control panel powered servers in that safe mode and open_basedir are enabled

          read http://vbulletin.com/forum/showthrea...threadid=37766 for the solution

            This worked. But why is there a difference I don't understand I never did this before..? Does this cost me anything like bandwith or something? Thanks for all the help by the way, everyone of ya. Also great post about using vB with a plesk server. Thanks Again!

              Did you recently change hosts or did your host recently put you on a different server or change/"upgrade" your server? That would do it.

              I don't know why it hasn't affected you until now, if safe_mode was on it should have affected you all along.
