    Simple, but effective for larger boards

    On almost all forums I work on I move the table headings from the very top to below each category. To me it looks better there and makes it easier for boards with alot of forums to not be confused way down the page.

    Demos:

    BikeForums is the leading online discussion site for avid cyclists.

    Notice how the Titles, "Forum", "Posts", "Threads", "last Post", etc are not stuck at the top above all forums, but rather place below each category. This is extremely easy but a big favorite of mine.

    Go to your Forum Home Templates
    > Open your forumhome template.
    > Look for:

    Code:
    <tr align="center">
      <td bgcolor="#8080A6"><smallfont>&nbsp;</smallfont></td>
      <td bgcolor="#8080A6" width="80%" align="left"><smallfont color="#EEEEFF"><b>Forum</b></smallfont></td>
      <td bgcolor="#8080A6"><smallfont color="#EEEEFF"><b>Posts</b></smallfont></td>
      <td bgcolor="#8080A6"><smallfont color="#EEEEFF"><b>Threads</b></smallfont></td>
      <td bgcolor="#8080A6" nowrap><smallfont color="#EEEEFF"><b>Last Post</b></smallfont></td>
      <td bgcolor="#8080A6" width="20%"><smallfont color="#EEEEFF"><b>Moderator</b></smallfont></td>
    </tr>
    NOTE:The above "bgcolor" areas should have the tableheadbgcolor code but the forum here auto fills that with the colors they use here. So change where it says "#8080A6" to "{ tableheadbgcolor }". And #EEEEFF to "{ tableheadtextcolor }". Minus the spaces of course.

    > Cut that code from the template and then save the template.
    > Now open the forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost template.
    > Paste the code you cut from the other template below the last line of what is currently there.
    > Save it
    > Now do the same for the forumhome_forumbit_level2_nopost template.
    > Save it. And thats it. All done.

        yeah i use to do that but i have alot of categories and forums ~140 and most of them are member viewable only so as a guest you only see half of my forums

        it adds alot to some members load time when they're on 28.8/33.6 dialup

          Yes I should bring notice to that fact.

          If you have any hidden forums it will look wrong as the title section will be there at the end above nothing. There is some php you could add to remove this problem but that falls under a hack and belongs over at vbulletin.org.

                      Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

                          you can't view it because it's a frameset when you view source code you only get the frame set
