radio buttons for registration

We're setting our site up so that the vBulletin registration = the registration for the site overall. Therefore, we'd like to add a few options to the registration such as "Sign up for our mailing list" - the kind of thing with one choice, yes or no.

I know how to add custom text fields, but is it possible to add custom single-choice fields?

By hacking, you just mean working with the PHP/mySQL code in one of the files, right? If so, which file should I look at? Thanks.

Does anyone have any idea how to make this happen, or seen a site that has implemented this? We're supposed to go live with this site on Sept. 1st and I'd really like to make this happen, so any help would be strongly appreciated. Thanks.
