Guests can view topic titles, but not the messages...

Would it be possible to allow guests to view a forum's topic titles, but not be able to read the messages posted inside the topic (and taking them to the log-in/registration page)?

I believe you can do this from the Forum Permissions link in the control panel - give guests permission to view the forum but not to view threads.

Not really, there's no separation between thread list and actual posts... (I'm 99% sure)

True, you can only allow/disallow viewing threads...

In fact that isn't true - it is possible.

Set "Can View Forum" to yes, and set "Can View Others' Threads" to no.

What do the guests see when they go into a forum?

They only see an (apparently) empty forum, with only an announcement.

That setting does not allow them to view thread titles, despite what James keeps saying in various threads.
