Huh? What does this have to do with vBulletin? Moving to Chit Chat.

I am the owner of a large vbulletin site. I have been asked to send to the FDA a copy of posts form a particular person. But he has over 2200 and that is not somthing I have tome to do. I was wondering if in the admin section I can send these posts to a file on my computer and send it to them that way? any help would be great.

Do you have phpMyAdmin installed? I can give you an easy way to create a file that does this.

(And by the way, if you've been subpoenaed, you MUST comply unless you want to spend some time in jail for obstruction.)

EDIT: Actually, it probably could/should be done without phpMyAdmin, and I can help you do that, too.

Step 1: Contact the authorities (the district atty, probably), and let them know that you are doing everything you can to comply as soon as possible. Explain that you are not tech-savvy, and that you are working on a solution to get the posts for them.

Step 2: Watch this space. I'm writing a script that will output all the posts for a particular user into a simple text file.

All right. All done. This script will output all the posts of a particular user to a simple text file, which you can, in turn, copy and paste into an e-mail attachment to send to your friendly assistant D.A

It does this sort of "e-mail style", meaning, it will post the # of the message, the date, the subject, and the text of the message. If there's an attachment, it will print a link to the attachment.

To run the script, follow these steps.

                1) Open the file and change the two lines near the begninning to your settings. The first line specifies the username of the guy you're looking for; the second line specifies the address of your forums.

                2) Upload it to your forums directory.

                3) Point your browser to the file (http://your-site.com/forum/posts.php).

                4) Copy the text into a text file and e-mail it to your friendly assistant D.A.

                Enjoy.

You're in a sticky situation that you didn't ask to be in, and I'm glad to lend a hand. I hope everything works out.

That of course only prints the indivdual posts from the user. And doesn't know what they are responding to.

Perhaps they will also need all the threads they have posted in, with their posts highlighted?
