    Thanks.
Personaly i have not used either versions in a long time, but when you pay you get support both via the forums here and though private trouble shooting system we have.

Youll get access to vBulletin.org and vBulletinTEmplates.com both resources for modifying vBulletin in diffeernt ways.

Priority support costs money at IPB.

vBulletin is vastly superior to all other forum software out there. Having the 'powered by vBulletin' tag on your board immediately speaks 'quality'...when I see that on a board, I know it's probably a 'real' board and not some two-bit operation.

If you are serious about running a web forum....vBulletin is the ONLY choice. This was already the case before 3 was released, but is even more so now.

vBulletin has everything more than phpBB. IPB is competition.

Although, vBulletin is better than IPB in some matters.

I think one of the main things is that vb can handle hundreds or even thousands of users online at one time.

You have to modify phpBB to do this otherwise it'll crash.

Not to sure about IPB though.

IMHO, the only proof you need is that there are still hundreds of pirated vBulletin forums out there ... if the "free" forum scripts like phpBB and iPB were much better, why would these pirates go through all that trouble obtaining an illegal copy of a commercial forum script like vBulletin? It's probably better than the free ones, right?

Anyway, I have always regarded the template system of vBulletin as the biggest selling point to me... the other forum solutions, even after several version updates, still pale in comparison in that aspect...

edit: WHOA, did the server just automatically adjust to DST, or was there a server time reset? I hate it when the post chronology messes up

phpBB and Invision Power Board (IPB) are both vastly inferior in comparison to the capabilities of vBulletin 3, in terms of specifications, support, community and useability.

Well that is just my $0.02c.

PeteRoy, go to see on vbulletin.org or vbulletin.nl. There are plently of threads comparing the different boards.

Also, i don't know if any of you have noticed; Most of the recent updates for PHPBB have been security fixes and some of them were major security holes.
This just proves that their software isn't as secure as many of their competitors.
PHPBB also lacks a lot of features compared to vB and IPB. IPB has many features, might have a few more than vBulletin, but vBulletin is more customizable and support is better.
