Dual Portals on our Start Page

We would like our start page to have two "sections" that users could go into, depending on what they are looking for....with a password/login for each section. Is that possible? What is the easiest way to go about setting up an interface like this?

You could create a static html page to serve as your home page. Link to the two sections.

For passwords: Not sure what you are doing. If they are forums, you could put people into different usergroups and give them permissions for each forum they are allowed and not allowed to view through forum permissions.

Otherwise, you could look into amember for password protecting different directories. Or .htaccess password protect each directory and give people the password for each area.
