    Installation Problems!

Hi there, I've just bought and downloaded the software, changed the config file, and uploaded it all to my server as per the manual.

The problem I'm having is that the installer is not coming up at all, all I get is an error404 page not found page.

To be honest, I've tried changing things round in terms of dbusername etc. but am now a bit lost as to what else to try...

Anyone able to offer any help as to what next to try!

    Thanks

All of the install files are uploaded, and as far as I know the config file has been changed correctly.

Interestingly enough if I go to the url domain it tells me there is a vBulletin database on there with a database error, and I can e-mail technical assistance from there, however when I try to load the install/install.php page it just comes up as error404 so obviously its recognising there is a vBulletin database

Please make sure that you have uploaded the entire install directory and that install.php is present on the server.

The install directory is very much in evidence, as is the install.php file also is too!

Can you advise me what the permissions should be set to?

There is nothing in the install guide as to what they should be set to.....

They should be uploaded with a default of 755 but as long as the webserver has read and execute permissions it should be able to find it.

A support ticket with webserver connection information would be more helpful in allowing us to determine the problem.

Sometime happens that you upload files without permission to be readable, so the file is there but the system cannot read it.

Is it your server or is it an hosting ?
Is the http server set the way it suppose to ?
Can you read other files ?

All folders have 755 permissions, and files within have 644 permission.

I've just tried with 777 permission on the install and config files... no difference.

                    Support ticket now raised.

Ok, wait for support, meanwhile you can check other files.

Sometimes, rarely, you may upload a corrupt file and you solve the problem by just deleting it and upload it again

If you add a static text.html file to the install folder, can you access it from a web browser?

If you can't, then the problem is a web server configuration issue.

Thanks for the input but to be honest I'm not sure I know what you mean to be honest!
