Newb Startup Question

I'm getting this Error when I try to Install.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/content/i/t/c/itc66/html/trackdayjunkies/forums/includes/config.php5 on line 57

I'm using VBulletin with PHP5. Maybe that's the problem? I'm also not positive that I have the Proper login ID as there are about 3 different ones I use to get to MYSQL.

I'd like to try and get this sorted out by the end of the weekend.

This error means that you have a tyop on or before line 5 in your config.php5 file.

Also I advise against using the php5 extension unless you absolutely need to for your host.

I'm going to be using GoDaddy to host and both PHP4 and PHP5 are supported. So PHP4 would be better? I don't think PHP is supported.

Typo before line 5? I counted the lines down to 57, based on the message and that looks to be the Login name line, would that be correct?

I'll try PHP4 and refill in the config file and go from there.

No, that's not what I said or ment. Use the 'php' extension if your server support it and it's likely that it will.

And sorry, I meant you have a typo on or before line 57.

Note: GoDaddy Windows servers will not work with vB. You need to ask them to put you on a Linux server.

It's already up on a Linux server.

I'll try the regular PHP and see what happens.

That seems to have taken care of that issue. However, I'm now coming up with another issue.

In Install Step 8, I'm getting the following ERROR.

XML Error: unknown at Line 0

This means that either the install/*.xml files were not uploaded correctly or your server's PHP is not compiled with XML support.

Reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.
