    double tags in netscape

    Here is a tough one.

    Most of my pages are generated through PHP.

    If you view the source in IE, everything looks fine.

    However if you view the source with Netscape (4.x, 6.x, etc.) any tag that has "STYLE" in it gets duplicated and in some cases actually misspelled as "TTYLE"

    View the source with both and you'll see what I mean.

      Do you check for browser type anywhere in your PHP code?
      This must be happening server side, that's why I ask.

          Is the addition of the extra tag adversely affecting your web page in any way? I haven't found a clear explanation of why Netscape 4.x sticks that extra tag in there with the "style" attribute misspelled as "ttyle." It may have to do with using inline styles in combination with JavaScript, using inline styles with certain tags such as FONT, or maybe it's just a bug with Netscape's source viewer. Try using classes instead of inline styles and see if that solves your problem. Oh, by the way, this has nothing to do with PHP and should probably be moved to HTML Questions.

                  Yeah, I've seen it several times over the past few years. And not one time was I using PHP.

                      Really now!?!

                      Well, that's just one more reason for me to hate Netscape

                      [BTW, I'm a servers side freak... I hate playing ball in these browser compatability games. Blah!]

                              But I'm not sure its totally accurate. I think to totally screw up, you need to be running windows on that computer.
