[Forum] Missing posts when searching by member name

I'm unable to search for all of my members' posts. For example, I have a member with a post count of 379, as shown in the admincp User Manager. I've also verified 379 post entries in the database for that member. The admincp 'Find Posts by User' link returns 6 posts. If I go to that member's profile and click 'Find all posts', 100 results are returned. The Advanced Search for that user returns 6 posts.

I have recently upgraded to 4.0.4, but I believe I've had this problem for a while. I have repaired and optimized tables. I have rebuilt the search index and the post cache. Maximum search results to return is set at 300. Still have the problem. I'd sure appreciate any suggestions?

I posted a FAQ this morning , 7-08-10, that would have answered your question, but I guess vbulletin didn't like it. It has been deleted.

I would suggest that you use the search to find your answer looking for one of my posts, but ah, you wouldn't be able to find anything, because search doesn't work when you use it with member name, unless, of course you know the super secret, methodology...........

What determines how many posts are retrieved when Advanced Searching for posts made by a specific user?

so multi content search for despina on your forum......

Despina: Total Posts: 28
Single Content search 17 (using default paramater of return by thread)
Single Content search 28 (changing paramater of return by post)
Multi Content search 7 (all started by her)


Other than the ultimate fail of Multicontent search, Single content seems to be working fine. Can you list another user where the error occurs?

Missing posts happening to my sit also

I get the same thing when I view a user's profile and click the "Find all posts" link. I get messages from the last 7 days (since we upgraded to 4.0.4). The posts then pick back up from 11-2008.

I also have done the table repair.

We have the same problem on veganforum.com.

Find Posts By User only shows a few results.
Search Multiple Content Types doesn't have a "Show as posts" option, and will therefore show only threads.
Search Single Content Type defaults to only showing the first 100 results (on 5 pages), and there's no obvious "Find more mosts" button.

Did you guys ever get this one figured out? My "Find All Posts" deal is about one week behind.
