[Forum] Attachments Deleted after Upgrading vb4.03 to vb4.04PL1 plus vb404_upgrade_patch.zip

Was upgrading my test board from v4.03 to vb4.04PL1 plus vb404_upgrade_patch.zip

Immediately noticed that all previous image attachments in forum posts no longer display as thumbnails, but only as links.

Investigating further, I went to rebuilt thumbnails, and the process was done in less than 1 second; leading me to believe that all attachments are gone.

I tried clicking on the attachment links and they are now invalid.

Looking at Attachment Manager > Search shows 0 attachments, confirming my suspicions.

Checking into the User Albums also show that all images uploaded have disappeared. Same goes for CMS article image attachments.

Looks like this is yet another big obstacle in upgrading for vb4....

This incidence worries me very much since attachments are vital for my project. Have you submitted a ticket?

      Regards.
I could sell you my unused vB4 Suite license, but I'm not so cruel...

Asking me to fill another support ticket again? All necessary information is here in this thread, and it has the same symptoms as this other one http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...-after-upgrade where the issue made it to the bug tracker but isn't solved.

Whats with neverending requests for tickets? I'd prefer to have a discussion here since its easier for other users to comment on their own experiences. This problem is not an isolated problem because it has been repeated multiple times. Tickets are good for isolated issues with a particular board, not an issue which affects multiple boards by multiple users.

And we can't look specifically at your site without a ticket unless you wish to post your login information here

I know there has been an issue with CMS images changing to links due to an error in the database relating to each attachment however I haven't' seen any actually being deleted. Without having full access, we can't investigate, diagnose and fix what we can't see.

You will not be able to look at my site because I reverted it to vb4.03 after the horrendous 4.04 upgrade attachment deletion monster came. I don't think vb expects me to continue my site without attachments.

If you know there's an issue with the CMS changing links due to errors in the database, then that is what vb should be looking to fixed. As an end user, I will not be able to differentiate between attachments being deleted, and attachments being inaccessible due to database link errors. All I know is that my users can no longer see the attachments in their posts, or articles.

Please let us know when the database links problem has been solved and I'll then attempt the upgrade again. You don't need to look at specific users sites for problems that have been reported by multiple users.

Trevor, would you be able to confirm if the image attachment link mixup has been resolved in 4.05 (which has just been released)?

To my knowledge, yes. I know that code changes Ed made were validated against customer accounts who had raised tickets and the changes worked fine. I've also seen no tickets over the course of the last couple of days for any attachment issues in 4.0.5 specifically.
