    [Forum] First Post Squashed

I had recently updated to 4.0.3, as well as updated the skins, and everything looks fine, except one thing:

In every thread, the first post is squished to the side. The second posts and any below it are perfectly fine. If you edit the first post, it'll still be squished.

I've attached two screenshots to show what I'm talking about:

Also, I've checked if this occurs in every skin - and yes, it's the same in every one, even VB4's default skin which I haven't altered at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm totally at a loss!

In my forum, the first post of every page of the threads is narrowed.

Did you install the latest patch for fixing adsense? 4.0.3 PL1?

I was just checking as I have this problem but have only noticed it since I installed 4.0.3 PL1. This happened a while ago in beta with the first and the last posts getting this strange formatting. It was down to adsense in the first and last posts even though they weren't there. Looks like it has crept in again but only on the first post this time.

I tried to edit the postbit template and it works. Details:

            1. In the postbit template find:
            Code:
            <div class="content<vb:if condition="$show['first_ad'] OR $show['last_ad']"> hasad</vb:if>">
            2. Replace by:
            Code:
            <div class="content">
Still testing if it causes any side effect.

Thank you SO much! Placing that in the postbit_legacy template fixed it all for me.

Yeah, this bug cropped up for me as well only after I applied the patch level 1. I have ads off for registered users (guests only), but the block still shows up.

Just took the space out of the postbit legacy template (after an hour or so of searching for what was causing this issue and possible fixes), and I'm curious - why is this bug still in the program? I just purchased vBulletin on May 11th and this bug has evidently been around for a while. Seems like they could take random spaces out of the code for us.

Thanks for that tip. It has resolved the issue of the squashed first post but it is causing a problem in IE, though not in Firefox.

In IE the quote box is now running to the edge of the post box. But in Firefox it looks fine. It look sok in Chrome too.

And in IE there also appears to be a large gap between any message and any text in quotes.

Does anyone know how to fix these, IE Specific, problems?

                            cheers

I just fixed the gap with the quotes, it appears to be a compatibility view isses with IE. Go to page, compatibility view settings, and remove the url of your site from the list, and see if that works. It did for me.
