I have had 5 reports of users login details stop working for absolutely no apparently reason since updating to PL4 yesterday, and even after patching a new user has had the same problem on 2 accounts, I have manually set his password and attempt to login and it is stating that the details are incorrect when this is not the case, help please?
Users randomly not able to login since 4.0.2 PL4

When you did the upgrade, did you run the install/upgrade_402_salt.php script as instructed to in the annoucement?

I have the same problem. I've already upgraded to 4.0.3 but never did run the upgrade_402_salpt.php script (and now it's too late). Will this affect our registrations and member logins??Last edited by Pamela; Sat 10 Apr '10, 11:40am.Comment

Check your database. Look at table "user" and the field "salt" Make sure it is char(30) and not char(3). Any users who registered or changed their passwords between the time you put the upgraded files on the site and the time you changed the salt field to char(30) WILL have problems logging in. They will have to reset their password after this change is made.

Your database can be viewed via cPanel on your server using phpMyAdmin. However, if you've never worked with databases in the past, I would suggest finding someone who's comfortable with viewing (and if necessary) and modifying the tables.I drank WHAT?! - SocratesComment

Found it! It says the Type is "Char(30)", so I think all is good. I better not touch anything then. Thank you for your help!Comment
