    [Forum] XML Sitemap

    What directory is the sitemap kept in? When I try to rebuild it, it says the directory is not writeable...

    You need to create a directory to put it in and then chmod it to 777. You might be interested in this sticky - XML Sitemap

    If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

      Just create a sitemap folder in your forum/images folder and it should already be writeable. You need to set that path in Options.

        Is it truly necessary to grant executable permissions on this directory? That seems to be opening up a security hole in the site.

          After building the sitemap, there's a message like this:

          The sitemap will be accessed by search engines via this URL.

          Following the link, I get this:

          <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
          - <sitemapindex xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
          - <sitemap>
          <loc>http://basicroleplaying.com/xmlsitem...rum_0_8.xml.gz</loc>

          <lastmod>2010-02-20T14:28:13-07:00</lastmod>

          </sitemap>

          - <sitemap>
          <loc>http://basicroleplaying.com/xmlsitem..._1_1470.xml.gz</loc>

          <lastmod>2010-02-20T14:28:13-07:00</lastmod>

          </sitemap>

          </sitemapindex>

          Is that the sitemap?

              That's short. Okay, there's also an option to "Manage content priority", but I only find "forum" as an option. Is it something wrong, or will more options be added in later releases?

                Is it downloadable?
                Coz i always get file "vbulletin_sitemap_index.xml" downloaded. I though it's viewable on browser if "this url" clicked

                  I ran into a problem with mine making invalid links out of the site. (Google errors)

                  I gave up on it and started using GSiteCrawler it takes about 24 hours to crawl the entire site but the site map is complete and functional. It also follows the Robot.TXT file so I can limit the stuff for it to make links of... Now also tell Vbulletin to create a site map and compare... Way different...

                    I don't really understand this sitemap thing. It looks like it only produces a few lines... Could anyone from the vB team give us some more info on this?

                      Now travel to the URL addresses in those lines and youl see the site map... But to this day Vbulletin isn't creating a full site map (at least on my site).
