[Forum] 4.0.1 "Go to first new post" issue fix

I figured I'd put this in its own thread so people won't have to wade through the post I found it in for this fix that should have been put out by vB days ago.

The edit has to be placed in includes/class_core.php around line 2640. Thank you to Mr. Chuck and anyone who may have helped him come up with the fix.

This is the correct code after I finished adding what was given to me. I'm sometimes very stupid..

$this->registry->relpath = $relpath;
}
if ($fragment = parse_url($path, PHP_URL_FRAGMENT))

$relpath .= '#' . $fragment;
}

return $relpath;

What program would you use to edit the class_core.php file? I've been using Wordpad, but it doesn't give line numbers. Also could you be a bit more specific about where to add the code? Between what other code before and after?

If you have cPanel, there's a code editor inside. I use HTML-Kit to edit my files.

I suggest you to use notepad++ (yes, it's free!) as editor.
At line 2640 you will find //save.

Replace these lines just below:

if (!$path)
        {
            $this->registry->relpath = $relpath;
        }

        return $relpath; 

with the code posted by s0lidgr0und

I believe 4.02 will resolve this, last I read it will be released at the end of this week.

thanks for posting this fix - I know 4.0.2 will fix this, however many of my members requested this fix

As far as I know, it's the only fix. It's a simple edit. You're not altering anything major.

And you'll be overwriting 4.01 files with 4.02 files anyway which will address the bug.

I just applied it and it works perfectly.
