[Forum] User have trouble logging in

Some folks are attempting to login, hit enter than are presented with another login screen with blanks in login / pw boxes. This seems like a cookie problem however it's new since upgrade. Anyone else?

    TIA,

    TIA,
You may need to fix your cookie path .. Or perhaps ask the guy to use 'http://www.domainname.com' instead of 'http://domainname.com' for accessing your forum.

"path to save cookies" is default : / and is unchanged from my 3.8 install which seemed fine for last 2 yrs.

Settings->Options->Cookies and HTTP Header Options ->Cookie Domain (This option sets the domain on which the cookie is active.)Suggested Settings(Blank)-> change to yourdomain.com
Make sure that you clean your cookies after that. Hope that would help. If not let me know.

Same problem on my site. I had to leave town to avoid the pitchforks and torches.

It's fixed now, but I'm keeping my distance til Monday

The setting in dropdown at present is .mydomain.com (note the leading ".") are you suggesting using the custom setting and changing it to www.mydomain.com ?

Leap of faith. OK will set it to www.mydomain.com and see what happens.
No need to do anything serverside? Hey, thanks!!!

I don't understand why this needs doing when all I'm doing is effectively an upgrade... Is this an absolute guarenteed fix.

I have some users who can log in, and some that can't.

I really don't want to be in a position whereby people are not able to log in cos I'm messing about with this!
