    MySQL Error : Can't create/write to file '/var/tmp/#sql_8fda_0.MYI'

Anyone can help me with this?

    Database error in vBulletin 3.5.0:

    Invalid SQL:

    SELECT setting.*, settinggroup.grouptitle
    FROM settinggroup AS settinggroup
LEFT JOIN setting AS setting USING(grouptitle)
    WHERE settinggroup.displayorder <> 0
    ORDER BY settinggroup.displayorder, setting.displayorder;

    MySQL Error : Can't create/write to file '/var/tmp/#sql_8fda_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13)
    Error Number : 1

I just moved from one server to another

    This error means:

System error: 13 = Permission denied

The directory in that error either does not exist, or it is not world-readable and writable (chmod777.) You need to check and correct both situations to fix this error.

Your host will need to create this under the root server directory.

You can always try. You will need root access to this server to do this.

If you need to ask them, tell them to create a /tmp direcotry on this server off the root directory and chmod it to 777.

can't i just FTP to the server and do that myself? After they/I create that directory, what do I add? The problem will be fixed just by adding that directory and chmod it to 777?

i don't remember seeing this on my old server though [i recently transfered, dec 21st, 2005]. what about that "var" directory? i don't know what that is , do i have to add that as well?

No. You need root access to the server to do this.

so all they have to do is add a "tmp" directory, chmod it to 777 and the problem will be fixed?

If they do this correctly, yes.

Actually tell them to create a /var/tmp directory on this server and chmod it to 777.

If he has a Virtual Private Server, then he does have root.
