I ran the VBTEST script and failed one test:

magic_quotes_gpc should be off for optimal performance, ask your host to change this in php.ini"

What are magic quotes and what happens if I can't get my host to turn them off?

If I'm not mistaken, its something php use to work with the "'s. I think if you don't have it, vB is smart enough to work around it...

vBulletin works properly with magic_quotes_gpc being on and off.

Received the same fail msg for magic_quotes_gpc

I edited my php.ini file and turned them off, rebooted the server, but the vb_test script still says it's on?

Floris: you're a vb team member so I'm assuming your word is correct on this, it's not required to be off? (just looking for a confirmation as I'm having some upgrade script issues)
