vBulletin installation on a Windows 2000 Server
My frustration has been trying to decide what relates to a Linux/Unix Server install verses a Windows Server install. So here we go with Step by Step of a new fresh install on a brand new Windows 2000 Server.
The Server: Intel P4 1.8 ghz, 1 gb ram, 100 gb HD, PCI Ethernet Card.
Install Windows 2000 Server
Windows 2000 Server CD placed in to CD Rom drive.
Boot from this CD.
Do a fresh install of Windows 2000 Server letting the software partition and format the drive as one big NTFS partition.
(All software and data will be loaded and run from C: drive.)
Now go to the Windows Internet Update site and apply all patches, and security updates.
Create a web site using IIS.
(NO Apache Needed!!!)
Install Perl (needed for UBB Ultimate Bulletin Board)
http://www.perl.com
http://www.activestate.com/Products/...?id=ActivePerl
http://downloads.activestate.com/Act...SWin32-x86.msi
Open Windows Explorer
Click on Tools
Click on Folder Options
Click on File Types
Make sure PL and CGI type files use Perl.exe
(Add the types if not there)
Open IIS
Right Click on your Web Site
Click on Properties
Click on Home Directory
Look down the page for Application Settings
Click on Configure
Check the list for .cgi and .pl
(Add the types if not there)
.cgi C:\perl\perl.exe ā%sā %s
