Indeed, it is a server issue. You must talk to your host about this.

Similar to this https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...%28Facebook%29 and countless other threads... your Host has done something or made a change for this to come about IF it only started 2 days ago... have they made any changes to your server at all, anything? Tell them that this just started two days ago and ask what they have done at the server level 2 days or so ago.

Godaddy? I'm having the same issues. Just started the other day. Time to change hosts perhaps.

Ask them if they can, in the meantime, restart the MySQL server.

I sent Godaddy a support ticket with a link to this thread. I would suggest to anyone else on GD to do the same. Hopefully they will look at this and take it seriously.

I'm curious as to the uptime of their MySQL server. They could probably use a restart.

Typical Godaddy response and why they have such a bad reputation I suppose. I'll be changing my hosting over to someone else soon.

                        Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Hosting Support.

We understand that you had been experiencing problems with your hosting account for pwckitsap.org. Please note, the message you are receiving, "MySQL server has gone away," is not an error, rather a notice that the server has terminated a query which took too long to execute. To be sure, we performed database connectivity tests to your "**********" database and all tests were successful. We then attempted to log into your bulletin board using the FaceBook Connect utility and after over 1 minute of load time, while not receiving the error described, we were served a blank page, and were not logged in. This is indicative that the log in query was terminated by the server. Please note, this is not a malfunction of the database server, rather as preventative measure to prevent inefficient querys from overloading the server. You will need to check with the publisher (vbulletin support) for assistance with optimization of the query.

We can assure you that no changes have occurred to either the host servers or the MySQL servers currently housing your site.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

                        Thank you,
                        Moe F.

Was expecting something along those lines. Try asking them if they'll restart the MySQL server.

Submitted a new ticket asking them to restart the MySQL server my database is on. I'm not too optimistic they will do it however.

I did manage to eliminate the errors by turning off facebook connect. Not sure what the connection is there...

I think the fact that it works with Facebook off is coincidental because I'm not aware of any connection between the two either.

I doubt they will restart it but maybe if you threatened to go elsewhere for hosting, and perhaps remind them that it doesn't take a long time to do.
