[Forum] Facebook Connect not importing user's profile photo as avatar

Hi guys,

I'm running 4.1.12 PL2 and have enabled Facebook Connect. Users connecting via Facebook Connect do not have their Facebook Profile Photo imported properly. Thumbnail shows up at top of page near Facebook button but does not show up in postbit when user posts.

What could I be doing wrong? Is photo import enabled by default?

Facebook Auto-Register is enabled. Have looked at the site using my custom style as well as the default vB4 style and still no profile photo is shown in postbit.

Also, during registration, if Auto-Register is disabled, the registering user's Facebook profile photo is shown on the registration page, but there is no option to choose that to be their avatar. If you click on the profile photo on the registration page, it simply goes to their Facebook page.

This thread says that it is an option for the user to choose whether or not their profile photo is used but I'm not able to see that anywhere.

Thanks for responding. All of the Facebook Import options are already enabled except for the Occupation field. Biography, Interests, Location and Date of Birth are all set to import. I don't have a field to place the Occupation data into so that's why it is turned off. Do I need to create a new field and turn Occupation import on?

Just to clarify, I'm trying to import the Facebook profile photo as the forum user's avatar picture, not as their profile page picture. On my forum, profile page pictures are disabled.

Is anyone able to have this functionality at all? I see threads citing that it is possible, but I'm unable to get this to work no matter what I try. I've tried this on the default vB style, I've enabled and disabled Facebook Auto-Register and neither one works.

If I disable the Auto-Register feature, the user's Facebook profile pic shows up on the registration page underneat "The Facebook Platform" heading but there is no option to enable or disable that picture to be the user's avatar. The only option given is for the FB user to associate their FB account with an already existing forum account.

So could any of vBulletin's staff please let me know if I'm chasing a phantom feature or if this actually exists or not? I see threads showing that it works and Trevor seems to be THE guy who deals with Facebook issues, but I am at my wit's end with how I could enable such a feature on my site. Was this something that was removed from the recent versions of vBulletin?

I'm not sure if that thread you linked me to is what I need. My issue isn't with the small pic used in the header when someone connects with Facebook Connect. That image shows up no problem, but the user's avatar in the postbit/postbit legacy is left blank and doesn't use their Facebook picture. Trevor's responses in previous threads shows that having the picture as the avatar is possible and is a feature built into vB but alas I'm unable to get it to work on a clean install using the default style.

Trevor, can you or any of the vB staff please respond?

Additionally, can any other vB owners share whether they have been able to import the Facebook profile pic as the user's avatar?

As far as I am aware, importing the Facebook picture as the user's avatar is not a feature at this time.

Were you aware of it ever being a feature previously? I'm just curious as to why this feature was discontinued or removed from the software. This thread shows that it was a working feature as recently as 4 months ago.
