Keep custom avatar?

I own vB 3.6something and am considering buying the latest version. Before I do so, however, there is a problem with my existing package that I'd like to make sure is either simply user error on my part, or fixed in 4.x.

I generally disallow users the ability to upload/use avatars. However, I have a few regular users I'd like to upload an avatar for myself. I have done so from within their account page, and set the "Keep custom avatar" setting to yes, but the avatar (a simple small jpg file) is not showing up in the forum itself. Am I doing something wrong or is this a known issue in 3.6.+ ?

You should put them in a usergroup where they have permissions to have custom avatars. Please go to this form: http://members.vbulletin.com/membersupport_priority.php
