[Forum] Posting Issues! - Smileys and IE9

I've got a issue with a single member that has Windows 7 (Dell Computer) and IE9 that seem to always losing his post due to browser crashing and the auto-save function isn't working for him. So there is nothing to recover after the browser crash.

Yet again, when I tried to post a thread.......everything was working great until I clicked on a smilie. Then my Explorer browser IMMEDIATELY locked up and ALL of the work I put into my post was s__t canned into oblivion.

I had to type my post on my Microsoft Outlook first, and then cut and paste it on the website page. When I went back to edit my post and add the smilie, the smilies would NOT work when I clicked on them.

I cannot believe that I am the only one who is having problems like this.

Could someone help me out on this why this might be happening?

I'd suggest upgrading to 4.1.12. But if its just one member on just this one computer, then it sounds like an issue on his end.

Suggestions are to disable his browser addons if any and clear his cache/cookies and see how that works out for him.

Could you post a link to the JIRA that this might part of?

Not nessairly, but you should make sure the problem exsists on 4.1.12 before we spend time troubleshooting.

Dang... I really didn't want to do a update to 4.1.12 I was hoping to jump to 4.2.0... But for the sake of the members that are complaining about this issue I'll start rolling the update as soon as I can... I'll keep you poosted on the results of this.

Ok so I got one of them to disable the 3rd part plugins, clear cache and cookies and this what happened...

Went through the steps for IE9 adjustments and then cleared cookies and cache.

I made several posts tonight and all of them stopped and would not accept the submit the response order. Probably waited 1-2 minutes on each post then the site would post my response.

Then I lost the whole post that I added pictures too. I was working on a reply to the Class V Hitch recommendation. I got the same no response after I pushed the submit post button but the post never recovered and it wouldn't let me copy and save what I posted so I lost it all.

No I've not updated to 4.1.12 yet but since 4.2.0 is so close I'm going to hang back for its release.

Are your members getting an IE not responding notice when they post? I've had this issue when posting since I upgraded to 4.1.10 affecting several members on IE9. We've got round it at the moment by using the Standard Editor, it seems only to happen when using WYSIWYG. Hoping a future upgrade will sort this issue for us.

I've also had a number of members reporting this using IE9 too, and we're running 4.1.10. I've just managed to reproduce it also on IE. I'll try updating to 4.1.12 if possible.

Be interested to hear if it cures the problem. Are you using just the forum or suite? We just have the forum.

Ok Zach... Updated to vB 4.2.0 (Forum only) still seeing long hangs and lockup issues with IE9 yet... I had them update flash and java both and turn off the 3rd party plugins still doing it.

I haven't run into this issue at all since early vB4 ckeditor stuffs. Are you using any cloud services etc?
