[Forum] vBulletin, the IPv6 Launch Day and the IPv6 address (in the database)

    Hi folks

On June 6h a lot of pages will go live with IPv6 and so do I plan for our own.
At the moment vBulletin has (as it seems) no IPv6 support. The IP address field in the databse is 15char (123.567.9AB.DEF) which is not enough to log IPv6 address.
    So what are the plans?
IPv6 is coming - so there is no way around handling this issue...

No, the few places ip logging works, won't work as well as it needs to. However the forum software will still function fine. The fact your site is on ipv6 won't matter, even if a user is accessing it via ipv6.

Realistically, you won't see this implemented before vB5, if then. The team do not consider it a priority and never have done.

IP logging will just be one more thing we have to tell people not to rely on because it won't be working properly and never will, because it was written in 2004 and the software company refuse to update it.
