    Attachment corruption - zip files

Hi - I have 3.8.6PL1 with attachments being stored in the database.

When ZIP files are uploaded, they upload fine but when a user attempts to download the file, it shows as a corrupt or incomplete file (whether opened or saved and then opened). I saw a posting regarding disabling of gzip but this didn't help.

    Any help appreciated.

Issue resolved. I had changed emails on forum and not on license. Thanks for the heads up.

Would you have any ideas on this zip issue?

Does it happen in all browsers or just one or tow?

It's happening in IE8 for sure. I haven't tested others but will soon. I can try Firefox. Do you suggest others to try?

Finding out if its just a specific browser or all browsers is a good step, it can give us an idea of whats going on.
Does it happen to all zips attachments, just old zip attachments, or just new zip attachments?

Did you find out if it was all browsers?

I tried Firefox and that appears to work ok.

I don't run any toolbars or other added junk in IE 8 but I'm sure there's something causing this. Any idea?

                  Thanks!

It was enabled but during initial research, I disabled it without positive result. Same issue with it enabled or disabled.

Just saw you are having the same problem, Here is my situations:

                          I have Vbulletin 4.1.2

In the forum, when I have a .zip file attached to a post, everything is fine. If I download the file from the post when using firefox, everything works perfect and winzip opens it fine.

IF I try and download the same .zip file from the same post using internet explorer, winzip will not open the file. IT throws an error that says: Cannot open file: It does not appear to be a valide archive.

What the heck? I tried this using different verified zip files and all the same results.
My Server has Gzip enabled, and GZIP is turned OFF in Vbulletin.

This is a problem only in IE8, firefox, IE7, chrome all work fine.

With mod_deflate on my server turned on,(IE8 will not work) If I disable mod_deflate, Yes it will work.

There is no double compressions. So I do not know what you mean, how do I fix this? Also, GZIP and mod_deflate are the same?

                            -------------------

I do not have double compression at all. So with mod_deflate enabled, IE8 will not download .zip files.

                            Help?

                            As a temporary work around:
For now, in my forum directory (which is in its own folder) I put "SetOutputFilter INFLATE" in the forum htaccess file.

This has to be some kind of glitch or error.

There is no problem with firefox, IE7, Chrome, Opera, etc. Only IE8

                              Disable mod_deflate.
