How to change user ID Number?

Hi all,

I want to know if there is anyway to change Users ID number?

and I want to know if it possible to add (insert) a new user with the ID of one who they has been Deleted or Merged..

so anyone knows something about doing that?

No, userids are auto-incremented and there is no function to change existing ones.

what about the deleted once? is it possible to get them back? I mean from DB or something like that...

Don't do this. Read Steve's post below.

If you have users 1, 2, 3, 5, & 6 and you want #6 to be #4 for whatever reason, you could probably manually change userid from 6 to 4 in the database, then rebuild all vBulletin's caches and, and change the the tables auto_increment down from 7 to 6 and it would probably work.

But, I don't see a good reason to do it.

Unfortunately this will cause more problems than it's worth. You would have to make the appropriate changed to every tale that has a userid in it. It's a lot of work and you would run a very high risk of ruining your database for good..

in fact what I did is that I merged two users by mistake.. so one of them has been deleted

and the order is not as before e.g. 8,9,10,11,12,13 after merging it's like 8,9,10,12,13
number 11 has been deleted after merging

so I want it to be back if possible

and the order is not the same with the total number of users

total users for an example are 390 and the last one's ID is 391

Do you have a database backup from before merging the users? And not to be harsh, but there is a warning when merging users that says it is irreversible.

yes I have database backup

but it was about month ago or more, I didn't notice that only when the user complained so I thought it is possible to get the name and ID back..

and I did merge the users by mistake ^^
