Long long thread - does it harm?

I have thread like 900 pages long, each page with 10posts - this is more than 9000 posts.

I saw that some search querries in this thread are taking too much time, although I guess not many times people search this thread, I am getting sometimes server load spining to high numbers.

Is it possible that querry this thread may do harm my server load and performance. Should I go and better close such threads?

If the thread is impacting server performance than it should be closed. 9000 posts is a lot. The maximum length of the thread would depend on your server resources.
