Infraction usergroup

I made 2 infraction promotions:

15 points > moderate posts

30 points > user banning

The problem is that a user who excedes 20 points can posts without being moderated. I can't figure out why. Right now he is included in a usergroup that has the option "no" for "Follow Forum Moderation Rules".

If he's in a usergroup that has 'Follow Forum Moderation Rules' set to No, then his posts should be moderated anyhow.

Yes, it's set to "no". I tried even to manually put it in this group which has "no" to 'Follow Forum Moderation Rules' and his posts are still not moderated.

Also, please take a look to the screenshots attached. A user with 30 points goes into the banned group, normally. YThis is set in my admincp. I made a test and although a user exceeds 30 points he still can post and he is not moved into the banned usergroup.

I manually run usergroup promotions and infraction scheduled tasks. He still is "registred"... I don't know why he's not moving to the banned usergroup...

Users aren't moved into other usergroups, they simply take over the permissions from the infraction usergroup.

This caught my eye, Colin, as an aside. I'm still familiarising myself with the basic infractions system setup.

Just to clarify here: if a user reaches the points threshold to advance into an infractions group, the settings from that group (i.e. the 'Infracted users' group ) are applied to the user's account, but they remain a member of their standard usergroup (e.g. 'registered users'), rather than actually being moved to that group?

The permissions of that group are applied to the users account, not the settings.
If you set the 'Banned Users' usergroup as the Infraction Group, and this has a user title of Banned, then this won't be displayed for that user.

Thanks for this clarification. Looking over the configuration screen for any given usergroup, am I right then in assuming the following areas of a usergroup's configuration page (as in AdminCP > Usergroup Manager > Edit Usergroup) will apply to a user who receives sufficient infraction points to have the group's permissions applied to him/her:

• Forum Searching Permissions
• Post / Thread Permissions
• Attachment Permissions
• Poll Permissions
• Private Message Permissions
• Calendar Permissions
• Who's Online Permissions
• Administrator Permissions
• General Permissions
• User Note Permissions
• Picture Uploading Permissions
• Signature Permissions
• Help User Reputation Permissions
• User Infraction Permissions

But the following sections of a usergroup's configuration will not be applied (i.e. will be retained from the user's base usergroup):

• Usergroup
• Public Group Settings
• Usergroup Options

Yes, that's the way I imagine it would work.

It's a great system, but that bit really confuses me - it would be far better and easier to understand if it just changed their primary usergroup, or added them to a secondary group.

The infraction should have the same effect like you manually ban a user. Put it automatically into the banned group or other custom groups.

Anyway, as I said, on my forum the users who exceed 30 points must inherit as Colin F said the permissions of the banner group. Unfortunately, it's not working. The users who have more than 30 points are posting without a hinch. I really don't know what to do.

I don't know if it has been explained before, but could you explain to me the reasons behind this? Just out of curiosity I would like to know this : what would be the benefits of this procedure compared to putting them actually into another usergroup?

I think it would be better when someone who, say, got moved into the banned usergroup after so many points that it showed "Banned" under their username. It also doesn't show them when you click on banned users via admin cp.

I would like other people to know that they are banned.
